ANANTYA WAS BUILT AS A SELF-MADE VPS, TRANSFORMING A REPURPOSED MOTHERBOARD INTO A FULLY FUNCTIONAL SERVER ENVIRONMENT. THE GOAL WAS TO GAIN COMPLETE CONTROL OVER DEPLOYMENT, HOSTING, AND RESOURCE MANAGEMENT WITHOUT RELYING ON THIRD-PARTY CLOUD PROVIDERS. BEYOND HOSTING WEB PROJECTS, IT ALSO SERVED AS A PLATFORM TO POWER IOT EXPERIMENTS — INCLUDING A CUSTOM IR-BASED AC REMOTE THAT ALLOWED SMART CONTROL OF HOME APPLIANCES.
SOLUTION
THE PROJECT COMBINES SYSTEM ENGINEERING, SOFTWARE DEPLOYMENT, AND IOT INTEGRATION. THE VPS HANDLES WEB APPLICATIONS, DATABASES, AND NETWORK ROUTING WHILE PROVIDING A RELIABLE SANDBOX FOR DEVELOPMENT. BY CONNECTING AN ESP8266-POWERED IR BLASTER TO THE SERVER, I BUILT AN FULL AC CONTROL SYSTEM ACCESSIBLE VIA A WEB INTERFACE. THIS DEMONSTRATES HOW SELF-HOSTED INFRASTRUCTURE CAN BE EXTENDED BEYOND TRADITIONAL DEPLOYMENT TO SUPPORT PRACTICAL IOT SOLUTIONS, BLENDING DISTRIBUTED SYSTEMS KNOWLEDGE WITH HANDS-ON HARDWARE INNOVATION.
